Mist-propagated olive trees

A vegetative propagation process that replaces earlier systems, producing uniform, well-rooted plants ready for planting.

01stepMist propagation processA vegetative propagation technique for olive trees that allows greater control over rooting and plant uniformity.
02stepObtaining the cuttingsMaterial from the current year, selected with varietal and phytosanitary guarantees.
03stepRootingEach cutting receives a hormone and fungicide treatment. In misting chambers, on perlite and with controlled temperature and humidity, it produces roots in about 60 days.
04stepHardeningThe plants move to trays with peat for approximately 30 days, to adapt to a less controlled environment and produce their first growth.
05stepPlant developmentOnce they reach a suitable size, they are transplanted into polyethylene bags and placed outdoors, getting used to the conditions they will find in the field.

Advantages of mist-propagated olive trees

  • Starts producing 1 to 2 years earlier than cutting-grown olive trees, thanks to a more developed and organised root system.
  • Single-trunk plant, reducing labour in the initial training of the olive tree.
  • Makes olive groves easier to mechanise, including harvesting, and allows closer planting spacing.
  • Obtained from current-year cuttings, with greater vegetative growth and strong vigour in the first years.

How the plants are delivered

  • Single trunk, at least 50 cm tall.
  • Rooted in a 2.5 l polyethylene bag weighing approximately 3 kg.
  • Treated against diseases.
  • Hardened, well-nourished plants with varietal purity.
